This popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts is located just minutes from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and offers a variety of water activities, including kayaking, paddleboarding, and boating, and of course Packrafting!
Grapevine Lake is a man-made reservoir that covers over 8,000 acres and has more than 60 miles of shoreline. Visitors can rent kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards from several vendors located around the lake, including yours truly.
Before heading out on the water, visitors must be aware of the safety regulations and boating rules for Grapevine Lake. All boats and paddle crafts must have personal flotation devices (PFDs) on board for each person, and children under the age of 13 must wear them at all times.
As we paddled out onto the lake, we were immediately struck by the stunning scenery. The shoreline is dotted with trees and wildlife, including several species of birds, turtles, and fish. The lake also offers several islands, which provide a unique paddling experience and a chance to explore a bit. One highlight of our trip was paddling around the Twin Coves area, which is known for its calm waters and secluded coves. The area is perfect for novice paddlers or those looking for a relaxing paddle, and it's also a popular spot for fishing and swimming.
For more experienced paddlers, Grapevine Lake also offers several areas for open-water paddling. Overall, our paddling experience on Grapevine Lake was a real highlight. The lake offers visitors a chance to connect with nature, immerse themselves in a peaceful environment, and enjoy a variety of water activities. If you're looking for a fun and memorable paddling experience in North Texas, I highly recommend a visit to Grapevine Lake.
